Meeting Sexy: Daily News Sexy Singles on how they found their perfect mate

I'M ASKED all the time, do people profiled in the annual Daily News Sexy Singles feature ever meet someone special and wind up getting married?

Yes, they do!

Just last month, a divorced schoolteacher married the man she'd met after being featured in 2007's Sexy Singles.

Debbie Foster, now 60, married Charles Lewis in a simple ceremony on July 18. They had a celebratory luncheon the next day at Adelphia banquet hall in Deptford, N.J. At the ceremony, the bride was resplendent in a red-hot dress, proving once again that "sexy" isn't an age - it's an attitude.

"We've really grown and we've really been solid all of these years," Foster told me the day before her wedding. "We're just really thrilled. I really never thought I was ever going to be able to get another life partner, and we're really good partners. We [were] very compatible from the first date."

And they're not the only Sexy Singles who've gotten hitched. Former Sexy Single Shari Smith-Jackson, a probation officer from Mount Airy, landed her man right after appearing in the People Paper.

Woodville Jackson, a SEPTA train conductor, recognized Smith from hergorgeous photo in the 2009 Daily News Sexy Singles when she boarded his train. The couple surprised their guests by changing into wedding finery and getting married during their engagement party in December 2013.

Realtor Jill Rizen has a similar tale. Her future hubby, Andrew Hennig, first spotted her in the paper as a 2004 Sexy Single. The couple now reside in Mount Laurel, N.J.

Foster became a Sexy Single after her then 27-year-old son wrote in to nominate her. Foster charmed photographers during her photo shoot in Atlantic City.

Shortly after her photo appeared in the Daily News in 2007, she got an email from Lewis, also a divorced teacher, whom she agreed to meet for dinner in Manayunk.

"We really had a really good, authentic conversation," Foster recalled. "We sat and talked. I guess we were both at a good place. . . . That day, we made a commitment to see if we could make it. And I'm telling you, it's been wonderful. We've done so many wonderful things together."

Most recently, the couple cruised to Mexico, Belize and Honduras as part of Foster's birthday celebration. This past spring, they purchased a condominium together in West Palm Beach, Fla.

In April, Lewis proposed to Foster at the Prime Rib restaurant while a pianist played "Nobody Loves You Like I Do."

"We know this is our last quarter," said Foster, who retired from her job as a special-education teacher at John Bartram High School in January. "We don't have time to mess around."
