Philly design firm SPG 3 acquired by Rochester, N.Y.-based engineering group

Rochester, N.Y.-based Bergmann Associates has absorbed Center City Philadelphia design firm SPG 3 into its network of architecture and engineering offices.

With the acquisition, SPG 3's office and nine staff members will become Bergmann's second Philadelphia-area operation, after its existing 37-person location in Conshohocken, Bergmann said in a release.

SPG 3's local projects have included the shops and food court at Philadelphia International Airport's Terminal F and the Philadelphia Zoo's parking garage.

Bergmann's projects include improvements to the Philadelphia Mills shopping mall.

Integrating SPG 3 is meant to "reinforce [Bergmann's] commitment to the region and expand the capacity to serve current and future customers," Bergmann said.

Currently, Bergmann employs more than 400 at offices in Pennsylvania, New York state, Michigan, North Carolina and Florida.
