NBC10's Sheena Parveen announces departure, heads to Washington in January

Parveen is heading to NBC4 in Washington, D.C.

Parveen joined NBC10 in December of 2011, and the Daily News soon dubbed the curvy 'caster the local news "It Girl."

"To be honest," she said, "I don't think about that. That's not a concern of mine. I'm not here to try to look good, so if it comes along with it, I'm flattered. But it's nothing that I think about.

"I hope [the buzz is] because I'm very personable, that people enjoy watching. Honestly, unless somebody tells me, I don't realize it. I do my job. I try to be as good as I can at doing my job, and if people like me-which I hope they do-that's fantastic."

They liked her. They really liked her.

Parveen has a meteorology degree from Florida State University and holds a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal from the American Meteorological Society. That's considered the gold standard for meteorology.

"Weather-wise, [the markets] are the same. But Sheena's coming to the number-one station in Washington, D.C. We've been number-one here for a number of years. She'll be on the morning team, and she'll make our team even better," former CBS3 and NBC10 meteorologist Doug Kammerer told Eichel. Kammerer is now the chief meteorologist at NBC4.

Another difference in D.C. will be that TV news people aren't celebrities there, like they are in Philly, where Parveen's movements were watched as closely as those of Carson Wentz.

"Down here, you've got the politicians," Kammerer said. "We can fly under the radar here, and that will make it a little bit easier for her."

Via Facebook, Parveen wrote, "I am sad to leave the Philadelphia area and our passionate and loyal viewers. I have enjoyed forecasting the weather here for almost 5 years, and helping to keep our viewers (you) safe. I will miss working with our amazing NBC10 First Alert Weather Team as they continue to keep you safe during times of severe weather."

In Washington, Parveen will keep viewers safe as part of Storm Team4, where meteorologist Lauryn Ricketts is presently keeping a level head when it comes to Hurricane Matthew.

"We're going to see little to no impact, but we do have rain for the weekend," Ricketts said Wednesday morning.

Auditions hit Philadelphia Jan. 14, 2017. The show is seeking the best variety acts - from singers, dancers and jugglers to fire-eaters, ventriloquists and dancing dogs. Auditions will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

* Busy Molly Eichel also reported that Eagles center Jason Kelce made an appearance on his brother Travis' reality dating show, Catching Kelce, during last night's premiere episode. It airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on E!

Travis, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, will choose between 50 women, one from each state, to find the perfect girlfriend. Jason will occasionally appear to help Travis weed out the women who are not there for the right reasons, whatever those are.

One of the ladies in question is Veronica, a former Miss New Jersey contestant from Wildwood, N.J.

* Regal Entertainment Group will be showing Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton Round 2 this Sunday night at 206 select movie theaters across the country, because what's more cinematic than two elderly people talking.

Locally, the debate will screen at the UA Riverview, UA King Of Prussia, Regal Oaks, Regal Warrington Crossing, Regal Burlington and Regal Hamilton Commons Stadium.
