If you are a famous celebrity or a starving journalist, you need to Twitter, you need to InstaGram, you need to Facebook.

It helps you cultivate a community, broaden your brand, help to humanize you.

And then it gets you in trouble.

Ellen DeGeneres, whose daytime talk show may be the most inclusive on television, was defending a tweet yesterday after she posted a photoshopped picture of herself riding on sprinter Usain Bolt's back:

Uh oh. While Tattle is confident that DeGeneres meant the tweet as an amusing commentary on how Bolt's speed could help her accomplish more, it was seen by one Twitter user as likening Bolt to a "common mule," while another wrote "how dare you."

She responded:

And thus we return to one of the biggest problems with social media: A total lack of context.

It doesn't matter how you've behaved your whole life, make one 140-character slip-up and you're trolled unmercifully.

Just ask Gabby Douglas.

And now Ellen.

Low-cost 'Sausage'

The Hollywood Reporter says the animators behind the surprise box-office hit Sausage Party are fighting with the Canadian production company Nitrogen Studios, claiming they were forced to work unpaid overtime on the movie.

A December 2015 letter seen by the Hollywood Reporter claims that "unfair pressure tactics" were "used against the team: intimidating staff into working past official studio hours, disciplinary measures utilizing fear tactics that demotivate and cause distress (such as threatening to terminate employment), implying that other departments are working overtime 'voluntarily' as a reason to deny compensation."

Overtime laws in Canada are similar to laws in the United States, but not exactly the same.

Sausage Party co-director and Nitrogen chief creative officer Greg Tiernan denied the allegations, saying the statements were "without merit."

"Our production adhered to all overtime regulations and our contractual obligations to our artists," he told the Hollywood Reporter. "Any time that any concern was brought up, it was handled appropriately."

After the letter was sent, the Hollywood Reporter reports that Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures, which produced the movie, stepped in to ensure that OT was paid and that meals were provided for people who stayed late to work on the film. The sources said pre-letter back pay was not paid.

Megan is the daughter of billionaire Larry Ellison, and was a producer of The Hurt Locker, American Hustle, Her and Foxcatcher.

'I Am' canceled

Caitlyn Jenner's transitional reality show I Am Cait has been canceled after two seasons.

"We are incredibly proud of the two seasons of I Am Cait, a groundbreaking docu-series that sparked an important and unprecedented global conversation about transgender people, their struggles and triumphs," an E! rep said in a statement. "Caitlyn and E! have mutually decided not to move forward with another season at this time ... we look forward to continue following her journey as she appears on Keeping Up with the Kardashians."

"After 2 amazing seasons of @IAmCait, it's time for the next adventure," Caitlyn tweeted. "Thank you E! & thank you to the best girlfriends I could ask for!"

Do we have a taker for Kris & Cait Plus 8 (Kim, Kanye, North, Saint, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie)?

Depp, Heard settle

One day before a restraining-order hearing was set to begin, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard settled their contentious divorce on Tuesday. She withdrew her allegations that he had been physically abusive toward her.

"Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love," a joint statement released by the pair said. "Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm."

Heard said she would donate proceeds from the divorce to an undisclosed charity. E! News says she was paid $7 million by Depp.

"Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future," the statement said. Johnny's wishes for Amber remain unstated.
