Hatin' on Amber Rose? She has TIME on her side

Also in Tattle: Barbie, Greg Kohs, Sean Altman, Carmen Sandiego and Meek Mill

Philly gal Amber Rose, who's usually in the news because of whom she's dating or what she's wearing (or not wearing) has had enough of the Internet trolls who come out of the woodwork to pick on her morals and yet applaud her men.

So she penned an essay for TIME magazine, entitled "How I Learned To Stop Caring What People Think."

Yes, that TIME magazine.

Hey, they need clicks too.

"Ever since high school," Amber wrote, "I've been called a slut. All the boys were attracted to me - that wasn't my fault! Then, when I started getting famous, the shaming got even worse. All these messed up stories came out about me, and I was like, 'That's not true! I'm not that kind of girl!' But even things I had done-things a man would never be judged for-got me lots of hate.

"After my ex-husband Wiz Khalifa and I got a divorce, I'd go out for a date at a restaurant like any normal single human and people would say, 'Man, she's such a ho. She's out at restaurants with guys.' Then they would see my ex-husband with a bunch of women. They would say, 'He's the man! That's so cool.' So when I went on a date, I'm a whore, and when he's piling girls in a car, he's the man? There's something wrong here."

Agreed.

After a few more paragraphs of Amber explaining that she's really a good person, she gets to the empowerment portion.

"When you really stop caring about what people say," she wrote, "that's when you really start living. It's such an amazing feeling. It's about loving who you are, owning who you are and knowing that it's O.K. to live your life how you want to live it. We're all human, which means we're not all perfect. It's so cool to think that I might help women think about who they want to be and then encourage them to be that person with no remorse. I want to help women just be happy in their own skin."

* Someone who lacks skin - yet also has incredible proportions - is Barbie.

Following the success of last year's Barbie ad campaign showing doll-playing little girls as serious professionals, Mattel is going one step further and tackling Barbie's body-image problem.

In fairness, Barbie doesn't have a body-image problem being a doll and all, but people who focus on body image believe Barbie's plastic assets present a false goal for impressionable girls.

So Mattel yesterday released three new body types in addition to the Original: Petite, Tall, and Curvy.

Finally Ken can experience different body-types without cheating.

The new Barbies even have a flatfooted option in case one has to be red carpet arm candy for Tom Cruise.

'The Great Alone'

"The Great Alone" a new film by Haddonfield's Greg Kohs, a 10-time Emmy winner, will have its area premiere on Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Loew's Cherry Hill and the UA King of Prussia.

The documentary, shot in the Alaskan wilderness, tells the comeback story of champion Iditarod sled dog racer Lance Mackey.

TATTBITS

Rand Paul is being sued by singer/songwriter Sean Altman, a frequent Philadelphia performer from his days as a founder of Rockapella and as part of Jewmongous, for Paul's use of Altman's theme song for "Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?"

Said Altman: "My song 'Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?' has been legitimately licensed by numerous TV shows over the last 20 years and is the bread and butter song that feeds my family. When Senator Rand Paul uses my song to advertise his campaign (and get's a million views on Facebook, YouTube and Politico) he not only takes food from my daughter's mouth, he sullies my reputation as a liberal and the song's reputation as a beloved children's anthem. When people see his ad which, by the way, also uses my voice singing lead, they will assume that I gave permission to the campaign and that I endorse Rand Paul. I DON'T. The attorney who represents me - Lawrence Iser - successfully represented Jackson Browne when the John McCain presidential campaign used 'Running On Empty' in an attack ad, and he successfully represented David Byrne when Florida governor Charlie Crist used 'Road To Nowhere' in an ad, so I believe I'm in good hands."

* If you're interested in meeting the cast and seeing episodes of the new Fox sitcom "Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life," you can get passes at gofobo.com/CooperBarrettPhilly.

The event will be next Friday (Feb. 5) at 4:30 p.m. at the URBN Center, 3501 Market St.

Meek Mill, who attended Strawberry Mansion High School, will visit Boys' Latin of Philadelphia Charter School today to tour the school and meet with students.

Meek will reportedly talk to students about how to lead a successful life but they're only going to want to know three things: How much money do you make? Where's Nicki Minaj? And how do I get to be with Nicki Minaj?
