Radio Gaga: Tony Bennett is 1 at 88

WHEN IT comes to statistics and sales in the music business, it's all about context.

According to Billboard, 88-year-old Tony Bennett has broken his own record as the oldest living artist to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart when his latest, "Cheek to Cheek," partnering him with Lady Gaga, ascended to the top spot.

"Cheek to Cheek," featuring the duo performing a selection of Tin Pan Alley classics, helped Bennett, at 88, beat the previous record holder . . . Bennett, at 85, and his 2011 "Duets" recording.

The new Bennett/Gaga CD barely beat out Kenny Chesney's "Big Revival," which entered the chart at No. 2 with sales of 130,000.

Here's why all this info has to be taken with a grain of salt. There's no question that Bennett is 88, and scoring a No. 1 record at that age is impressive no matter what the rules are, but the advantage that oldtimers, like Bennett, last week's No. 1 Barbra Streisand and previous first-time No. 1's "Weird Al" Yankovic and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have is that their demographic still buys albums.

In a summer in which Sia debuted at No. 1 with 52,000 albums sold, Lecrae scored a No. 1 with 88,000 and Wiz Khalifa had his first No. 1 at 90,000, AARP acts like Petty and Bennett topped the charts with 131,000 albums sold, and Streisand's No. 1 debuted with 196,000 sold, almost as many as male hottie du jour Ed Sheeran sold with "x."

Granted, none of these acts is 5 Seconds of Summer or One Direction when it comes to album sales, and the new Taylor Swift will likely blow everyone out of the water, but the takeaway is that if you have a longtime following and release your album during the right week, you, too, can debut at No. 1.

All that said, congrats to Tony Bennett, still going strong 62 years after his first album.

An 'Angry Birds' movie?

Isn't "Angry Birds" annoying enough as a game?

The animated film version, due in theaters in the spring of 2016, continues to add top-tier voice talent, with a cast that now includes Peter Dinklage, Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Kate McKinnon, Tony Hale and more.

TATTBITS

Mila Kunis had a baby girl Tuesday night at L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

TMZ.com wrote, "Sources close to Mila's womb tell us . . . ."

Hey, that's our line.

Mila and Ashton Kutcher reportedly arrived at the hospital Tuesday around 6 a.m. without an entourage.

Bet they leave with an entourage.

* Former "View" co-host Joy Behar will star in a one-woman show "Me, My Mouth and I" at NYC's Cherry Lane Theatre this fall. Previews begin Nov. 6 with an opening set for Nov. 23.

The show will take audiences from Behar's childhood in Brooklyn to her stint on "The View." According to the comedian: "This is a good time to take stock of my shenanigans."

* TMZ.com reports that Amanda Bynes' recent traffic woes weren't the first sign that the young former actress was back in a downward spiral.

Student Rachel Loritz, at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, in Irvine, says that Bynes was showing up high and offering fellow students money to do her homework.

Whoa. If showing up high is a problem there are a lot of colleges who are going to have empty classrooms.

FIDM, however, was so unamused by Bynes' antics, TMZ sources say, she was kicked out of school last month.

* E! News reports that hot new couple Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara double-dated with hot married couple Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum, in Savannah, Ga., where the guys are shooting the sequel to "Magic Mike."

That is just too many attractive people in one spot.

* If you have the right property, the licensing opportunities never stop.

Fifty Shades of Grey Wine? Seriously?

In Red Satin and White Silk? Come on.

Personally blended by author E L James? We're just fit to be tied.
