AFTER ALL the police reports from shows like "Jersey Shore," "Buckwild" and "Teen Mom," MTV is putting a few more dollars into scripted television.

The network that once played music - hard to believe, kids - is prepping a pilot for a summer 2014 series based on the movie "Scream."

The network says the series would reinvent the horror-comedy franchise that began with the original release in 1996 and spawned three sequels. The films' original director, Wes Craven, is in discussions to direct the one-hour pilot.

MTV also said "Snooki & JWOWW" has been renewed for a third season. That should be enough to make anyone scream.

TATTBITS

* Former news anchor and reality TV star Dina Eastwood, the 47-year-old wife of Clint Eastwood, has checked into rehab for help with depression and anxiety, according to TMZ.com.

Sources close to the family made it clear she is not being treated for substance abuse.

* Police in coastal Georgia say country singer Billy Currington may have videotaped himself chasing a 70-year-old tour boat captain and threatening to "finish him off."

A police affidavit and search warrant papers filed yesterday in Chatham County Superior Court say officers seized digital video files and photographs from Currington's waterfront home near Tybee Island.

Tour-boat captain Charles Harvey Ferrelle told police Currington shouted at him and two passengers when they passed his home April 15. Ferrelle says on the return trip Currington chased them by boat and shouted threats while holding a camera.

Currington's hits include "People Are Crazy."

* Greece has pulled two ancient statues of nude males from an Olympic exhibition in Doha after Qatari authorities insisted on veiling them.

A Culture Ministry official says exhibition organizers wanted to avoid scandalizing female visitors.

First off, they're statues. Those poor guys have been showing their junk to sightseers for more than 2,000 years. No one's been scandalized yet.

Second, Tattle objects to pulling nude males. It hurts just thinking about it.

Greek Deputy Culture Minister Costas Tzavaras, who visited the Muslim country last month for the exhibition opening, objected, saying the works should be displayed as they were or shipped home.

So the statues were returned to Athens last week.

* A search of Justin Bieber's tour bus in Sweden found a stun gun and a small bag of weed.

No one was stunned by the gun. Or the weed. Also, no one was on the bus at the time so no one will be charged.

But Tattle wonders . . . if you find pot on a bus is it cannibus?

Asif Kapadia, the director of "Senna" is making a documentary about the late soul singer Amy Winehouse.

Focus Features International says the movie will feature unseen archive footage to tell the story of the art and life of Amy, who died at age 27 in 2011 from accidental alcohol poisoning.

* Thailand's film censors have overturned a ban on the documentary "Boundary," about the country's long-running border conflict with Cambodia, after initially saying the content was a threat to national security.

Filmmaker Nontawat Numbenchapol said the ministry's film and video board informed him yesterday that the subcommittee that had imposed the ban didn't have the authority to do so.

So yesterday's Tattle item about this? Forget it.

* In another Tattle follow-up, Neil Diamond is donating this week's boosted sales of "Sweet Caroline" to Boston Marathon bombing victims, after the tune became a source of comfort following the carnage.

* Tattle can't figure out why people are making such a big deal out of the fact that a McDonald's hamburger purchased in 1999 looks exactly the same as it did back then.

The real concern is that it tastes better.
