Tattle: Bollywood babe beheaded

It’s another edition of Global Tattle and we begin in India, where — don’t let the kids read this one — Bollywood beauty Meenakshi Thapar was kidnapped, strangled and beheaded while shooting her latest film, “Heroine.” According to the London Telegraph, Thapar’s killers were two actors she met on set.

It's another edition of Global Tattle and we begin in India, where — don't let the kids read this one — Bollywood beauty Meenakshi Thapar was kidnapped, strangled and beheaded while shooting her latest film, "Heroine."

According to the London Telegraph, Thapar's killers were two actors she met on set.

She had allegedly been bragging about her family's wealth when Amit Jaiswal and his lover Preeti Surin decided to invite her on a trip to see the Buddhist temples of Gorakhpur. There they held her hostage and asked her mother for close to $29,000 or they would force Thapar to take part in porn films.

Thapar's mother paid close to $1200 to the kidnappers but she was still killed, and her body was dumped in two separate places as her killers traveled back to Mumbai.

The pair was caught with the SIM card from Thapar's phone and confessed. Police have yet to recover the body.

"They wanted to extort money from her family. They have confessed to the crime. She was strangulated in a hotel and her body was hacked into pieces and thrown in a water tank. They threw her head from a moving bus while traveling back to Mumbai," a detective leading the inquiry told the Daily Telegraph.

Putin on the Ritz

In Moscow, three female punk rockers who mocked Vladimir Putin in a surprise protest inside Russia's main Orthodox church will be kept in jail, a court ruled Thursday.

Five members of the feminist band Pussy Riot— clad in brightly colored homemade ski masks and miniskirts — briefly seized the pulpit of Moscow's Christ the Savior Cathedral in February and chanted "Mother Mary, drive Putin away."

That's not how "Let it Be" goes.

Three band members have been in police custody since March and face up to seven years in jail on charges of hooliganism.

Oh, no, not hooliganism.

In Oklahoma "hooligan" news, a judge says prosecutors can seek the death penalty against former Marine David "Hooligan" Tyner charged with killing four people, including prostitute Brooke Phillips, featured on HBO's "Cathouse" series.

In Massachusetts, movie director Daniel Adams was charged with inflating expenses in his application for state film tax credits. Adams has pleaded guilty and will be sentenced to up to 3 years in state prison.

He has also been ordered to pay nearly $4.4 million in restitution.

Attorney General Martha Coakley's office had accused Adams of exaggerating expenses for two films which you've never heard of, shot on Cape Cod.

In Philadelphia, 24/7 Dan Gross reports that Sigourney Weaver and Carla Gugino dined together Wednesday night at Le Castagne (1920 Chestnut) while in town prepping to shoot the upcoming USA miniseries "Political Animals."

Filming is expected to start Monday and continue in the area through June. The miniseries will premiere in July.

In New Jersey, Gov. Chris Christie insists he was listening — not sleeping -- during a recent Bruce Springsteen concert in New York City.

Springsteen mega-fan Christie told reporters that actually he simply leaned back and shut his eyes to listen to the spiritual-sounding song "Rocky Ground" when the picture was taken.

The governor says the New York Post incorrectly concluded he had dozed off.

Christie's just mad at the Post because when he prayed in Israel, the right-leaning tabloid labeled him "the whale at the wall," proving once again that a nasty headline always trumps politics.
