Philly's Jill Scott gets her supervillain on in the CW's Black Lightning beginning this week.

Tuesday's episode introduces the singer-songwriter and actress as Lady Eve, a funeral home owner who appears to be the liaison between the real power brokers in Freeland and the gangsters known as the One Hundred.

Scott, a lifelong comic book fan who voiced Storm in the 2010 animated mini-series Black Panther, "is a talent and a joy. She's fearless," Black Lightning executive producer Mara Brock Akil said this month.

Scott has appeared in two of Akil's other shows, Being Mary Jane and Girlfriends. She "doesn't judge herself or her characters," the producer said.

"She has a lot of things that she just wants to do personally as an artist, and to expand. Imagine, you're being Jill Scott on one thing, talking about 'living my life like it's golden,' and that's like an anthem. But then [she] should have the freedom to be a bad girl. Oh, and she eats the role up," Akil said.

She certainly seems to in Tuesday's episode, where we'll see Lady Eve meeting with gangster Tobias Whale (Marvin "Krondon" Jones III),  who believed he'd killed Black Lightning (Cress Williams) years earlier, only to find the electrifying superhero back in the news.

Let's just say the lady is not amused.
