Student fashion show: Moore students mix media for the win

Senior Mariah Fisher’s collection won the Liz Collins Critic Collection Award

I’ve seen many a student dress in my day, but there was something about a particular purple-feathered number at Moore College’s annual fashion show Friday night that sparked a little amethyst-hued joy in my soul.

The judges agreed with me. And that night at the school’s Barnes Foundation presentation, that frock’s designer, Mariah Fisher, won the college’s Liz Collins Critic Collection Award.

Fisher wasn’t the only winner that night.

Junior Ma Kunyu’s collection of sheer summer sportswear for men and women won the Stevie Gamboa 2007 Critic Award.

And senior Naomi Adams’ modern grouping of wide-legged trousers and off-the-shoulder peasant tops won the Century 21 Best in Show Award.

Adams also had an honorable mention for the Elizabeth Ozarowski 2007 Critic Portfolio Award. (Century 21 was the show’s major sponsor this year.)

Finally, senior Erin Keenan’s stellar collection of metallic skinnies, vests, and cloaks mixed and matched with pastels and plaids won Best Merchandised Collection courtesy of Anthropologie. I think I’d wear everything in this grouping.
