I stopped cold when I came across first lady Melania Trump deplaning earlier Thursday morning in Paris in the most delightful red Christian Dior skirt suit.
Be still my fashion-obsessed heart.
Trump wore the suit — in all of its fiery classiness — to visit sick children at the Necker Hospital.
It’s a throwback to the iconic French fashion house’s 1940s New Look with its very cinched-at-the waist, double-breasted blazer and flirty, A-line skirt. The first lady was styled by Herve Pierre, the man with whom she collaborated for her vanilla inaugural sheath of a gown.
Pierre, once a top designer at Carolina Herrera, has reportedly been aiding the first lady in her phenomenal fashion choices, especially abroad. Pierre clearly has channeled her style. Whatever goes down between President Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron on this two-day visit to the French capital, we can be sure the first lady will be dressed appropriately — even if at some point she decides to go sleeveless.
