Will Raiders shift Pryor to receiver?

The bombshell out of Napa, Calif., on Monday was not that Oakland had used a third-round pick in the NFL's supplemental draft to select former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor.

The real news was the immediate speculation that the Raiders would try the 6-foot-5, 232-pounder at receiver. Pryor ran a 4.36 in the 40 at his workout on Saturday, which would make him the league's fastest QB, with the possible exception of Michael Vick.

But a Raiders source told ESPN.com's John Clayton the team is looking at Pryor more as receiver than a quarterback at the NFL level.

Pryor immediately headed to the Bay Area and agent Drew Rosenhaus said he hoped to finalize a contract as soon as possible to get Pryor on the practice field.

Based on the rookie scale used to sign the April picks, Pryor would get a four-year deal at $2.36 million, including a $591,000 signing bonus.

Oakland is now without picks in the second, third and fourth rounds next year. But the Raiders could recoup some picks as compensation for losing Nnamdi Asomugha, Zach Miller and Robert Gallery as free agents.

Vito Stellino of the Florida Times Union noted that the Jacksonville Jaguars, under character-conscious coach Gene Smith, didn't have a single player on the 90-man roster from scandal-plagued USC, Miami or Ohio State.

Reports from Kansas City say first-round draft pick Jonathan Baldwin hurt his hand or wrist in a fight with Thomas Jones at practice on Friday and will be out for the rest of the preseason.

The team refused comment.

Linebacker Frank Zombo is sidelined indefinitely after breaking one of his shoulder blades and Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that Zombo will miss a significant amount of time. . . .
