Listen up, nitwits, morons, losers and dopes.

Howard Eskin has been named sports anchor at Fox 29.

The veteran sportscaster and 94 WIP weekend host will start Sept. 4 as sports anchor for Fox 29's 5, 6 and 10 p.m. news, as well as for Fox 29 "Sports Sunday" and "Game Day Live."

And just so you know, genius, Eskin will also contribute to "Good Day Philadelphia," the station has announced.

Current sports anchor John Anderson will become a reporter/anchor on various newscasts.

Eskin has worked for Fox 29 before. In 1986 he helped launch the 10 p.m. newscast and stayed as its sports anchor until 1991. He most recently worked at NBC 10, doing the station's Sunday night's "Sports Final" and also popped up on weekend sportscasts.

"I've been incredibly fortunate in my career, having had the opportunity to cover some of the most memorable games and athletes in Philadelphia," Eskin saidWednesday. "But there is nothing like getting a chance to return to FOX 29, where my heart has always been."

Kevin Hart hosting VMAs

North Philly's own Kevin Hart will host this year's MTV Video Music Awards, on Sept. 6 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Hart performed the opening monologue and video skits at last year's VMAS.

MediaTakeOut.com, which is accurate about half the time, reported several days ago that Hart would host the show, but the formal announcement was made online Wednesday in a video starring Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, the latter of whom achieved VMA infamy when he rudely interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for an award.

Naked Bike Ride returns

It's that time of year again: when people you don't want to see naked swarm the streets in various states of undress. On bicycles.

This year's Philadelphia Naked Bike Ride will be Aug. 25.

"We ride to promote cycling awareness, the cycling community and positive body image," says co-organizer Brendan McGuire. "We also welcome those who would like to join us for causes of their own." For info, visit phillynakedbikeride.org.

Benefit for ailing DJ

Friends of 98.1 WOGL's Joe Mama, a/k/a David Redpath, have organized a fundraiser for Sept. 11 to help the family of the radio host, who has been hospitalized for a month.

Redpath suffered a head injury in a home accident on July 11. His parents, Dave and Kathy, live in upstate New York and have been staying in the area to be close to their son.

The benefit, which will feature performances by Pretty Poison's Jade Starling and Whey Cooler, will be held from 6-11 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Aloft Hotel in Mount Laurel, NJ.
