Playboy

model

Laura Grillo

has cut off 11 inches of her hair, just one of her chief assets, and donated it to Locks of Love. The nonprofit agency uses human hair to make hairpieces for children who have lost their hair due to cancer or other disease.

Grillo, who is proudly nicknamed "Laura the Butt," was featured in Playboy's "Desperate Housewives" layout in May 2005. She spent two years growing her hair to her waist and has been modeling a lot recently, appearing several times in Playboy special-editions magazines. She has an upcoming layout in Esquire's Turkish edition. (Who knew there was one?)

The 1997 graduate of Malvern's Great Valley High said some friends and fans begged her not to cut off her hair, but "none of that mattered to me. It made me happy to help children in need."

"Besides," she says, "that's why they make hair extensions."

Leno goofs on Jersey girl

Guess Jay Leno's been reading our column. On Monday's "Tonight Show," the NBC host joked about Ashley Harder, who, as we reported exclusively, was pregnant and therefore turned in her crown as Miss New Jersey USA.

"Ashley Harder, Miss New Jersey USA, has resigned because she is pregnant. So, I guess now we know what her talent was."(Ouch)

"This is the most embarrassing thing to happen to the Miss USA contest since Friday," Leno quipped, before taking the easy road: "Ashley Harder, is that her real name or a porn name?"

Crime show plugs Wing Bowl

610 WIP's Wing Bowl got a shout-out on CBS' "Without a Trace" on Sunday night, when Anthony LaPaglia, Poppy Montgomery and company probed the disappearance of a competitive eater. During a flashback sequence, the victim asks someone whether there are any openings in "Philly's Wing Bowl."

(For more on Wing Bowl, see our weekly preview on Page 40.)

Students design own uniforms

Designers Nicole Miller and Stan Herman will be in town this morning to choose a school-uniform design from those created by students at the School of the Future (4021 Parkside). One hundred and seventy ninth-graders worked on teams to create uniform designs in a collaborative effort with the Graduate Fashion Program at Drexel's Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design.

The grad students chose five finalists, from which Miller and Herman are to pick a winner. The chosen design is to be manufactured and uniforms distributed to the students.

CN8 couple 'Happy Together'

Comcast honcho and CN8 founder Mike Doyle surprised his wife, Lynn Doyle, with a serenade of the Turtles' "Happy Together" Saturday night as the CN8 host celebrated her 50th with a party at the Sheraton Society Hill.

Doyle has performed spontaneously at charity events over the years, but planned out this number with the Eddie Bruce Orchestra . Lynn and the 120 guests were surprised . The band also provided dancers performing routines from each decade of Doyle's life, ranging from poodle-skirted bobby-soxers to hip-hop dancers. *
