Big act in a small venue alert: Country star Carrie Underwood will play a rare club show at The Fillmore on June 15.
The Oklahoma born vocalist, songwriter and voice of Football Night in America, along with Kelly Clarkson, is the most successful winner in the the annals of American Idol. She won the Fox talent show way back in 2005, and she's sustained a hit making career ever since, through her fifth album, Storyteller, which came out in 2015. She's currently in the country Top Ten charts with "The Fighter," a duet with Keith Urban off his 2016 Ripcord album.
For Underwood, the Fillmore show is what's known in the concert business as an underplay. Last time through town, in February of last year, she played the much larger Wells Fargo Center. This date is one of only two she has scheduled, including the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles on June 29.
So why's she playing such (relatively) intimate venues? Both shows are available only to MasterCard American Airlines AAdvantage members. Tickets are on sale to cardholders only at this link.
