Dan DeLuca's Mix Picks: Screaming Females, Beyonce at the CMAs, Helmet, El Perro Del Mar and Brandy Clark

Screaming Females. The hard-rocking New Brunswick trio fronted by singer and standout guitarist Marissa Paternoster, coming off their less punk but still powerful 2015 album, Rose Mountain, Sunday at First Unitarian Church.

"Daddy Lessons," Beyoncé with the Dixie Chicks. Finally, a pop-country collaboration that makes sense as more than just an audience grab. The Dixie Chicks were smart enough to hear the twangy track from Lemonade as the country song it is and cover it live, and Beyoncé was canny enough to join the party. The highlight of last week's CMA awards.

Helmet. Page Hamilton's 1990s alt-metal band, still bleeding eardrums with the new Dead to the World. Wednesday at World Cafe Live.

El Perro Del Mar. Around the world in one night in Fishtown: Singer Sarah Assbring is Swedish, her band's name means "Dog of the Sea" in Spanish, and her Far-Eastern-flavored indie pop album KoKoro includes a song named after a French pastry. Wednesday at Johnny Brenda's.

Brandy Clark. The writer's writer of the current wave of rising female country artists who can't get played on the radio but who are deserving of a wide audience, most recently heard from with the whip-smart Big Day in a Small Town. Saturday at Tin Angel.
