"Master of None." Aziz Ansari's new Netflix series is plenty funny and smartly subverts racial stereotypes. But it's also musically keen, with a sound track that includes Aphex Twin, Toto, and Loretta Lynn, not to mention a Beach House title song and an episode featuring a Father John Misty concert. Find the Spotify playlist at masterofnonetv, and stream the show on Netflix.

Dave Rawlings Machine. This American songwriter tours and performs with his musical partner, Gillian Welch, with whom he wrote the tunes on his new album, Nashville Obsolete. 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Union Transfer.

Garth Risk Hallberg and Clair Vaye Watkins. Two three-named authors for the price of one. Hallberg is the storyteller behind the vast, hotly hyped, music-filled 1970s New York novel City of Fire. He's paired with Watkins, author of the debut novel Gold Fame Citrus. Free. 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Free Library.

Flamin' Groovies. Power-pop and punk-rock forerunners who date to the San Francisco scene of the 1960s. Shake some action! 8 p.m. Friday at Johnny Brenda's.
