Anthony Tidd

Anthony Tidd is a composer, producer, audio engineer, educator, musician, and Kimmel Center's Creative Music Program Director. He was born and raised in the United Kingdom and he has been living and working in the United States since 1997. Tidd attended the Newhan Academy of Music in London, Thurrock College of Music, as well as Goldsmith’s University of London. He holds a B.A. in Composition & Music technology from Goldsmiths University. As a student, he studied Composition, Upright and Electric bass, Piano, Music Technology, and Film Scoring.

Most people describe you as: Reserved, emotionally economic, and somewhat logical. So, British or Vulcan.

People would be surprised to know that: I have lived in Philadelphia for over 12 years whilst still retaining my British accent!

What is your drink of choice? The Tiddster, as served by Will Compton of Chris' Jazz Cafe (Gin, fresh lime juice, Angostura bitters, Domaine De Canton, fresh mint in a copper mug).

Where is your happy place? My studio couch.

What is your biggest regret? I should have chosen the damn blue pill!

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I would add 4 zeros to today's bank balance and get a do-over of the last 5 years!

What do you consider your greatest achievement? Choosing to remain a black creative musician, despite all the warnings...

Which trait do you most value in another person? Humility

Who is your favorite person, past or present, political or non-political? Dr. John Henrik Clarke or Coltrane.

Favorite Movie? What the "bleep" do we know?

What TV show is currently your DVR/On Demand obsession? Apple TV obsession, Orange is the New Black

What is your guilty pleasure? All Apple products!

What is the worst thing anyone ever said or did to you: Somebody stole my red tricycle!
