Touch 'Em All: Freeman returns to Braves

The Atlanta Braves activated first baseman Freddie Freeman from the 15-day disabled list, but he was not in the lineup against the Cardinals because he was traveling and not expected to land in St. Louis until close to game time.

The Atlanta Braves activated first baseman Freddie Freeman from the 15-day disabled list, but he was not in the lineup against the Cardinals because he was traveling and not expected to land in St. Louis until close to game time.

Freeman was placed on the DL on June 23, retroactive to June 15, with a right wrist contusion. He played in one rehab game, going 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Braves' Gulf Coast affiliate.

The Braves totaled only 83 runs in the 30 games Freeman missed, an average of 2.8 per game.

Deja vu for Pedroia

Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia returned to the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring after the same injury caused him to miss 16 games before the all-star break.

Pedroia originally hurt himself rounding first after a go-ahead single against Baltimore on June 24.

The 2008 AL MVP was 1 for 22 in his last six games.
