Love, marriage and legal representation for all

Local lawyer capitalizes quick on marriage equality ruling.

IF THE RAINBOW flag backdrops in social-media profile pics are any indication, support for marriage equality across the land is not losing momentum. That includes the local legal marketplace.

Like many LGBT supporters, Philly attorney J. Conor Corcoran celebrated the Supreme Court's decision Friday to uphold gay marriage in all 50 states. Yesterday, he did so with his own announcement.

Corcoran introduced a new division of his law practice dedicated entirely to the LGBT divorce. He and like-minded attorneys across the U.S. have launched a new website, AdamVsSteve.com. If that sounds like a play on words of the oft-heard homophobic rant that God intended marriage for "Adam and Eve," it is. AdamVsSteve.com not only offers specials for straight couples wanting divorce because they think the Supreme Court ruling has jeopardized the sanctity of their marriage, but gay couples can jump into the fray, too.

"Now that the sanctity of their marriages has been compromised, I'm offering a 50 percent discount to straight couples who just can't go on, now that gays have been given the equal protection they have long deserved," Corcoran told me yesterday.

Who was it who called marriage a three-ring circus: engagement ring, wedding ring and suffering?!

New digs in store

Chrissy Lampkin, from VH1's "Love & Hip-Hop," and Natalie Didonato, from VH1's "Mob Wives," are joining the official swimsuit designer of this year's Sexy Singles spread for the opening of his new shop on South Street.

Tomorrow marks the grand opening of Saleem Vanderpump and Tiffany Williams' Bellargo Piarge Boutique (501 South St.) The niche label-maker specializes in men's and women's signature T-shirts and active wear, and has been in business more than 10 years.

"The brand itself is larger than life," Vanderpump told me yesterday.

"It transcends every kind of guy - the working class guy, the mailman, the police officer or some up-and-coming rap artist. There's something very inspiring about wearing these T-shirts. People take pride in it."

The shop has moved from its former location in Northern Liberties to open its doors to a new crowd of people. Vanderpump says part of the reason for the move is to boost foot traffic.

With a party sponsored by Hennessey and music provided by DJ Row, the grand opening is promising to please.

More TV news gossip

Fox 29 has been bestowed the exclusive privilege of airing the drawings for the Pennsylvania Lottery in Philadelphia.

Effective yesterday, drawings for Pick 3, Pick 4, Pick 5, Cash 5 and Match 6 will be seen on Fox 29 at 6:59 p.m. Powerball and Mega Millions drawings will air at 11 p.m.

Locals flip homes

This Sunday, catch a couple of Philly locals on HGTV's "Beach Flip," a new renovation competition show featuring outdated beachfront properties that are transformed into hot, new commodities.

Mahdi Alston is the district director for the Boy Scouts of America in Philly. He and his teammate, Melissa Llewellyn, recently bought a fixer-upper in town that they plan to use as an investment property. But the results of the flip of a Gulf Shores, Ala., home will determine if they win a $50,000 grand prize and a giant spread in HGTV Magazine.

DIY Network stars Nicole Curtis ("Rehab Addict"), Josh Temple ("House Crashers") and David Bromstad ("My Lottery Dream Home") act as hosts, judges and mentors to four rival teams that will compete. The team with the highest increase in property value wins.

Birthday wishes

I want to wish a very happy birthday to the one and only - "The Geator with The Heater, the Boss with the Hot Sauce" - Mr. Jerry Blavat, who turns 75 tomorrow.
