That doesn't float his boat

Wade Boggs is selling the boat the owner of the Tampa Bay Rays gave him for getting his 3,000th hit with the team, according to ESPN.

Even better, it's never been used since it was given to him in August 1999.

The $50,000 custom Mercury 19-foot bass fishing boat, which has a facsimile of his signature and "3000" and the old Devil Rays logo on it, will be sold off by South Jersey-based Goldin Auctions.

Boggs tried to sell it last year, but he said it received no bids.

"I never used it because I kind of thought it was more valuable out of the water than in it," Boggs told ESPN.com

Pujols piling up numbers

The Los Angeles Angels' Albert Pujols is climbing all kinds of all-time lists. Here are two more after Monday night: He tied Tris Speaker for 13th on baseball's career extra-base hits list with his 1,131st, and tied Ivan Rodriguez for 23d with 572 career doubles.
