Sideshow: Nick Cannon tweets: Media, leave us alone

Cannon goes off

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey may be splitting up.

But that does not - does not! - give the media license to pollute the world with fanciful theories about their relationship, a most irate Cannon says in a series of 19 strident Twitter posts. (Nineteen tweets? Dude, next time try Facebook.)

Cannon, 33, refuses to confirm reports that he and his wife, 45, are living apart. The former Nickelodeon star reacts badly to an In Touch Weekly report which claims Cannon told Yahoo's celeb news site the Insider that "There's trouble in paradise . . . we have been living in separate houses for a few months."

He said no such thing, Cannon tweets: " 'Trouble in Paradise' is the dumbest phrase I've ever heard! I would never say that . . . ."

Cannon reiterates his unconditional commitment to Carey, whom he wed in 2008. "I love @MariahCarey and that will never change!!!" he writes exclamatorily.

He praises the diva wife as a terrific mom to their 31/2-year-old fraternal twins Monroe and Moroccan Scott. "@MariahCarey is an amazing Mother and I trust her wholeheartedly," Cannon wrote in response to tabloid reports that Carey is fighting for full custody of the twins.

What set Cannon off, for example

Take this sample In Touch Weekly report, from Thursday.

"There's been nonstop fighting - the joy is gone," the mag says of the couple, citing an Unnamed Insider. The report says Nick is tired of Mariah's (alleged) heavy drinking and she's had enough of his (alleged) philandering.

KStew-gate: The Wife speaks

Liberty Ross finally has spoken up about the fling her now ex-husband, Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, had with the film's star, Kristen Stewart, two years ago.

"I was horrified at how relentless and extraordinary going through something like that was," Ross tells the U.K. edition of Harper's Bazaar about having to deal with the media maelstrom that ensued after a picture of KStew kissing Sanders was published. Yet Ross insists she doesn't hold a grudge.

"People need to learn to forgive," she says. "No life is perfect, we all have our problems and issues, and I believe that it's good to be true to who you are. Rupert and I were together since we were very, very young. I was 18 . . . I always used to say we were more like brother and sister anyway."

She adds, "[We] weren't really evolving together as a couple so much."

So, maelstrom over nothing, then?

Betty White lives! As a blond!

Seems that word began spreading Wednesday night that beloved actress Betty White had died (false).

It all started when some knucklehead tweeter or blogger misread this punny headline posted on the satirical website Empire News: "Actress Betty White, 92, dyes peacefully in her Los Angeles home."

As all of certain reading level can see, Empire's was a report about Betty's penchant for staying blond.

"She rarely likes to discuss the fact, at least in public, that she is actually a brunette," it reads. White's agent became so concerned, he contacted the Los Angeles Times to confirm that White is still kicking and currently working on the set of Hot in Cleveland.

Big numbers

USA Today says "the 12-day, 552-episode Simpsons marathon moved FXX from 49th to third among cable networks in the 18-49 demographic. Prime-time episodes averaged 1.3 million viewers." All salute series creator Matt Groening! . . . Singer Ariana Grande, whose career started, like, two minutes ago, has done nicely with her newest LP, My Everything. It sold 169,000 units in its debut week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, to take the top spot on the Billboard album chart. It's her second No. 1, after last year's Yours Truly.
