Billy Crystal to bring comic relief to Robin Williams Emmy tribute

 B ILLY CRYSTAL will pay tribute to his longtime friend Robin Williams at Monday night's Emmy Awards.

Crystal will honor Williams as part of the traditional "in memoriam" segment for industry members who died during the past year, Emmy executive producer Don Mischer said in a statement yesterday.

Mischer said that the memorial segment during the ceremony will include a performance from singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles.

At last year's Emmys, Williams honored his friend and mentor Jonathan Winters during the tribute segment.

Us Weekly reports that the hot and heavy Zac Efron and Michelle Rodriguez pair has unpaired.

An anonymous insider said that the couple split after a fight in Ibiza. (In a fight, our money is on Michelle.)

"Michelle is going to do her own thing. Zac knew this about her when he got with her," a second source told Us. "He's very into her, though, and perhaps more than she's into him."

* Closer Weekly reports that Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp ended their three-year relationship a couple of weeks ago.

"I don't think he loved all the attention he got just from dating an actress," a Mellencamp friend told Closer. "I bet he'll stay away from dating another famous person for a while."

* In Touch reports that Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, who've been married for 26 years, split for a month after "they hit a rough patch," but the pair is now vacationing together at their home on the Greek island of Antiparos.

"Tom and Rita are not just husband and wife, they are best friends," said an unnamed friend of the couple. "It will take a lot to split this couple up for good."

* People says that ABC News reporter Elizabeth Vargas and her husband, singer-songwriter Marc Cohn, are divorcing after 12 years of marriage.

Recent reports said Vargas was in rehab battling alcohol addiction.

* Us Weekly also reports that Beyonce has spoken to her pal and conscious uncoupler Gwyneth Paltrow about divorce advice.

Bey is reportedly no longer "Crazy in Love" or "Drunk in Love" with husband Jay Z and has begun putting everything he owns in a box to the left.

Sources tell Us that the couple will split in the fall when their On the Run tour has run out.

The MTV Video Music Awards will open with a "Bang."

Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and Jessie J will kick off Sunday's awards show with their new song, "Bang Bang." It will be the first time the trio performs the Top 10 hit.

Grande and Minaj also will perform separately during the VMAs, to air live from the Forum in Inglewood, Calif.

Beyonce, who sings "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" (a different, better song) in the trailer for her HBO special, is the top nominee and will compete for eight awards, including video of the year for "Drunk in Love." She also will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. (Also bangin' is Christina Perri's "Bang Bang Bang," another good song.)

Queen Bey also will take the stage Sunday night. Other performers include Usher, 5 Seconds of Summer, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Sam Smith and Iggy Azalea, who has seven nominations.

* Jackie Chan apologized to the public yesterday over his son's detention on drug charges in Beijing, saying he's ashamed and saddened.

The Hong Kong film star wrote that Jaycee Chan would have to face the consequences of his actions, but that they would do so together.

"Regarding this issue with my son Jaycee, I feel very angry and very shocked. As a public figure, I'm very ashamed. As a father, I'm heartbroken," Chan wrote.

Jaycee Chan, 31, and Taiwanese movie star Kai Ko, 23, were detained last Thursday, becoming the latest high-profile celebrities to be ensnared in one of China's biggest antidrug crackdowns in two decades.

Ko was part of an antidrug campaign two years ago in which he appeared in a PSA declaring: "I don't use drugs."

Jackie Chan was a Beijing antidrug ambassador in 2009.

* Mayor Bill de Blasio surprised longtime "Today Show" weatherman Al Roker on his 60th birthday yesterday and declared it Al Roker Appreciation Day across the city.

De Blasio presented Roker with a mayoral proclamation featuring a photograph of the home where Roker grew up, in St. Albans, Queens.

De Blasio's appearance came during the second hour of the NBC morning show.

The program aired a retrospective on Roker's life and career.

Gosh, remember that day in '95 when Al said it was going to be sunny and 82 . . . and he was right. That was some forecast.
