Here's a Monday score: Mother Nature 2, Major League Baseball 0.

The game between the Atlanta Braves and the Colorado Rockies in Denver Monday night was postponed by a snowstorm - the third time in eight days that the white stuff has frozen out the summer pastime at Coors Field.

In Minneapolis, the Minnesota Twins were proactive, preemptively postponing their game against the Miami Marlins seven hours before game time, while it was still 45 degrees and way before a single flake could fall at Target Field.

Why couldn't they use the Metrodome? It's still there, but with no dirt for base paths - it's now football-only (and the Vikings plan to tear it down).

So far, there have been 14 games played with a first-pitch temperature below 40 degrees.

It probably won't happen, but it's fun to imagine a bundled-up Bud Selig sitting in the snow-covered stands waiting for a Colorado-Minnesota World Series Game 7, weather-delayed into November.

Take that. Tigers starter Doug Fister was long gone by the time the Angels' Mark Trumbo parked a walk-off home run to seal Sunday's 4-3 13-inning win for Los Angeles in Anaheim.

But Fister made his mark - literally. Along with three runs and six hits over seven innings, he hit three batters, two in the third inning and one in the fourth.

Detroit pitchers have hit seven batters through the first 18 games - six by Fister, who plunked seven all last season in 1612/3 innings.

Down goes Myers. Cleveland Indians righthander Brett Myers has been shut down due to tendinitis and a mild ligament sprain in his right elbow.

The 32-year-old ex-Phillie is 0-3 with an 8.02 ERA in three starts and one relief appearance this season, allowing 10 homers.
