Justin Bieber is no longer a boy. But, honestly, is he yet a man? The Canadian megastar's mum, Pattie Mallette, isn't sure. She does know one thing: She's not quite ready to let him go, to fly the coop. "Um, yeah, I mean, he's growing up," Pattie told Access Hollywood on Wednesday. "He's 19. I mean, he's not my baby. I want to be able to take away free will sometimes and be able to do everything for him." BeliebMom says it's tough to see some of the media reports about her boy, such as a story that the "Baby" singer on Tuesday assaulted a neighbor at his Calabasas, Calif., pad. "I'm sure you can appreciate as a mom how I feel when I read some of these stories," said Pattie. She knows the wise course: "I just gotta let go a little and let him make some of his own decisions."
Bieber, cont'd: 'I make mistakes'
Speaking of Justin Bieber, on Wednesday the singer addressed a growing body of reports about his recent bizarre behavior, including taking a jaunt around London wearing a gas mask.
"I'm young, and I make mistakes. That's part of growing up," he tells Us Weekly. Justin is sad he's got a bad rep. "The biggest misconception about me is that I'm a bad person," he said. "I have a big heart. I want to be a good role model, but some people want me to fail."
Chris Brown's humility
"I was arrogant and definitely hotheaded," singer Chris Brown, 23, told Ryan Seacrest Tuesday in a chat about his assault of gf Rihanna in '09. "Everybody has a temper, but, for me, it was not knowing how to control it when I thought I had the world in my hands."
Chris, who got five years' probation and 1,400 hours of community service, said he never thought Ri-Ri would come back to him.
"I just tried my best to be the best man I could be over the years," he said, "and just show her how remorseful and sorry I was for the incident . . . probably the worst part of my life." Brown peeved many a fan and pundit when he began dating R again. "People are entitled to their opinions," he said. His responsibility is to be true to himself: "It's all about my responsibility and me growing up as a man.
"I have to focus on doing the right thing and being more of a humble individual."
Penn lad a chip off the old block?
Remember Sean Penn in his 20s? Angry and unable to verbalize it, he'd lash out at paparazzi at the drop of a hat.
Seems Penn's son by ex-wife Robin Wright is a chip off the old block: Hopper Penn, 19, on Tuesday lashed out at an African American journo who was filming him while he took a stroll with dad in Beverly Hills.
Sean, 52, ignored the guy, but Hopper pushed him, firing off a choice racial epithet. Hopper fils later told TMZ, "I deeply regret my choice of words."

Anderson Cooper to replace Lauer?

Huey Lewis rocks again
"Do You Believe In Love" crooners Huey Lewis and the News will release an anniversary edition of their '83 hit LP, Sports, on May 14. The album, which was influenced by '50s tunes, was that year's second-best selling album, behind Michael Jackson's Thriller.
"We were sort of anachronistic even then," Lewis, 62, tells USA Today about their nostalgic sound. The band will go on tour beginning with a May 10 show in New Brunswick, N.J. More dates to be announced. Info: www.hueylewis.com.
