Two-time Oscar-nominated The Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner, 40, didn't make Hollywood's A-list until he was in his late 30s. He spent his youth starving for his art. "I wasn't super-happy being so poor. Eating on $10 a month - probably not very good for you," Renner tells Details about the years he made ends meet by fixing up old houses. ($10 a month?!) "But I loved what I was doing. Not every actor gives their life to do this job." Renner, costarring with Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, couldn't even afford romance. "I couldn't afford to date," he says. "I didn't even have electricity. You try to put a positive spin on it, like, 'Hey, this is so sexy - look at all these candles!' " He hasn't lost his love for construction. "Building a house is like producing a movie," he says. "There's no right way to do it, but a lot of wrong ways. You have to be flexible and creative. . . . These sound like life lessons. It certainly affected how I approach my life."

J.R. Martinez wins 'Dancing' title

Actor J.R. Martinez won the mirror-ball trophy on ABC's Dancing With the Stars Tuesday night during a finale in which Ricki Lake, a top scorer all season, failed to advance to the final two. "Thank you, America, for believing in us," Martinez said. Rob Kardashian placed second.

Poor reality star Kim Kardashian keeps suffering in the wake of her failed 72-day, $17.8 million-earning marriage to Kris Humphries. RadarOnline reports that Kim has had to scrap the entire run of these really expensive Christmas cards she had printed up because they bear a photo from her wedding. She ordered the batch in August, never anticipating they'd be so useless. Don't worry! Monday she had a photo shoot for a new set of cards.

Kardashian pain worse than death

Kim isn't to blame for the dissolution of her marriage, says Us Weekly, which claims Kris was the real villain in their ill-fated union. Seems Kris verbally abused her daily. "He belittled her in front of people," Anonymous Insider tells the mag. "He'd call her stupid. It was truly sickening." Wonder which camp leaked this tidbit. Adds Insider: "One time, he said she had no talent and her fame wouldn't last." Kris even subjected her to a fate worse than death, worse than torture and mutilation - he called her fat.

Philly's Kate G. gets face-lift?

Speaking of fates worse than death, Philly's proud daughter Kate Gosselin, who righteously shed her husband, Jon, is reportedly so terrified of aging and so "consumed with her appearance," as Anonymous Source tells Us Weekly, she has gone under the plastic surgeon's knife dozens, millions, billions of times during her less-than-successful career as a pro celebrity. Reportedly, Kate got a tummy tuck in '07 and breast implants in '09. The source tells the gossip glossy that Kate has previously given herself Botox injections and has tanning sessions at least three times a week! Kate, who is supporting her eight kids as a blogger for a consumer coupon website, just had a face-lift, Us Weekly also claims. Yet we know, somehow, that inside, Kate is still beautiful.

WDAS back on the air with R&B

Philly station 1480 WDAS (1480-AM), which switched to a "Rumba" Spanish format in '07, returns to the airwaves Wednesday as an R&B oldies station dubbed "The Soul of Philadelphia." The station will play R&B versions of holiday tunes through Christmas before beginning its new regular format, which will feature tunes by the Temptations, Archie Bell, Jerry Butler, Sam Cooke, Fontella Bass, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, the Drifters, and others.

A sexy, warbling French first son

Pierre Sarkozy, whose pops, Nicolas Sarkozy, runs France, is pursuing a career in celebdom: The very pretty 26-year-old, whose mom is Nicolas' first wife, Marie-Dominique Culioli, was a hit last year when he did a stint as a fashion model. Now he's turned to music. The New York Daily News says Pierre, who goes by the stage name Mosey, has released a collaborative CD with New York DJ Sub Zero called Two Soul Fools.

Pregnant?! No way, says Katy

Katy Perry's convex dress Sunday at the American Music Awards betrayed what looked like a baby bump. So is she expecting? "Hell, no!" Katy, 27, tells Hollyscoop.com. Katy, who has said she does want babies with hub Russell Brand, 36, just not right now, tells The Insider she's just a bit chubby.

"I like In-N-Out Burger and Taco Bell, and if you want to make that pregnant that's your problem," she says.

Katy is set to host Saturday Night Live Dec. 10 with musical guest Robyn.

In Touch Weekly says Jennifer Lopez's boytoy, Casper Smart, 24, faces a court date in January for drag racing a friend down a Los Angeles freeway. Smart, who has a prior driving-without-a-license conviction, may face some jail time. . . . Sometime Voorhees resident Hank Baskett, 29, better known as the husband of Kendra Wilkinson, is also an actor. The NFL star will star in the live action-animated Web series Supermoms, says In Touch Weekly. . . . "The guy has a good point, I've wanted to sue myself for years now," says Mike Rowe, host of the Discovery Channel's Dirty Jobs. TMZ says Rowe is being sued by a prison inmate in South Dakota, also named Mike Rowe, who claims he gets harassed by other inmates who think he's the TV Rowe. . . . A replica of the Carolina Herrera wedding gown worn by Kristen Stewart in Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 is now available from fine retailers for - yikes! - $799. . . . Lady Gaga has opened a Santa's workshop of sorts at Barneys in New York featuring products she loves. Gaga will star in a Thanksgiving TV special on 6ABC.

Frankie Valli to the cleaners . . .

Four Seasons lead singer Frankie Valli all but lost his shirt in his divorce from wife of 27 years Randy Valli (nee Clohessy). TMZ says Randy, Frankie's third wife, went after the considerable returns the Newark, N.J.-born musician is getting from his musical Jersey Boys. Legal papers obtained by TMZ say Frankie, 77, makes more than $515,000 per month, a big chunk of which is from the musical. Randy, 51, receives $30,000 a month, including $25,000 in Jersey Boys royalties. TMZ says she also gets $810 a month in public assistance (?!).
