On the market: Old City condo for $549,999
As a young working professional in Philadelphia, Kristen Davidse had everything she needed and more at her Old City condo.
Located at 22 South Front Street, it had the restaurants, the bars, the shops, and even the proximity to the some of the country’s most renowned historical landmarks.
“I loved two things,” Davidse said of when she first purchased the unit. “I really liked Old City – it’s an easy walk to everything, and it has a young vibe. Secondly, I felt really safe.”
Davidse, who was 26 at the time she purchased the 22 Front condo in August 2010, was the first homeowner of the property. The condo is one of 42 units in the building, which was built in 2009.
Now 28 and recently married, Davidse moved in with her husband in Rittenhouse Square, and is selling her Old City condo for $549,999.
The apartment – with two bedrooms and two bathrooms – is on the fifth floor of the seven-story building. Right next to the Delaware River, the condo overlooks the Ben Franklin Bridge.
“It’s beautiful looking out on the river,” Davidse said.
The floor to ceiling windows makes the view that much more enjoyable, which is what Davidse said is her favorite feature of the home. The 10-foot windows are located in the kitchen, living room and bedrooms.
Other features of the 1,500-plus square foot home include a balcony off the living room, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a large closet space.
Because it’s a smaller building, Davidse said all the neighbors – mostly singles and couples in their 30s – know each other and are friendly with one another.
"Everyone greets each other by name and chats briefly in the elevators," she said.
Davidse said the doormen also make the building much more welcoming, giving it that small community feel.
“The doormen always asked you about your day and helped with bags” she said. “They knew our guests by name and seemed to genuinely care. They treated the building like it was their own home.”
The building sits on a block with other new and similar residential buildings. Its location is convenient to get in and out of the city, as it's only a block from the subway, and close to I-95, the Ben Franklin Bridge, and I-676.
