Smart's car 'fortwo' appears in Devon
Several people from around the Mid-Atlantic who plunked down $100 deposits got to test-drive the Smart "fortwo" automobile Thursday, Aug. 30 in Devon.
The European cars are awaiting full U.S. approvals before going on sale, which manufacturer Smart says will likely be in January 2008. While their obvious appeal is the ability to squeeze into tight city parking spaces, Smart says they can reach up to 90 mph. They also have a dual-mode automatic and manual gearshift system and get a claimed 40 miles per gallon.
