Posted on Thu, Feb 14, 2013
Here are the top five selling models during 2012 in 16 primary market segments.

Toyota Camry was the best-selling Standard Mid Size Car, with a 15.6% share. Honda Civic was first among Sub Compact Cars, followed by Toyota Corolla/Matrix and Hyundai Elantra. BMW 3-Series remained at the top, as the best seller among Near Luxury Cars.

Ford F-Series was the leader among Full-Size Pickups, while Honda CRV (Compact SUV), Jeep Grand Cherokee (Mid Size/Crossover SUV), and Ford Explorer (Full Size SUV) were also top-ranked in their segments.

Strange how you can't find a Mercedes or Nissan dealer in Philadelphia but they sold so many vehicles here!

What are you talking about? There's a Nissan dealership right by the airport, at the AutoMall! And we're surrounded by other Nissan dealerships--about 7 or 8 within 10 miles. There are 2 Mercedes dealerships within less than 10 miles of center city; few places have 2 Mercedes dealerships so close to choose from.

You should really check your facts (it's easy!) before posting like that.

The slipshod reporting should really have made it clear whether those figures were just for the city (probably not) or for the Philadelphia MSA (almost surely, otherwise the sample data would have been too small in some auto segments).

Title of the article is "Best-selling cars in Philadelphia".

Reading comprehension problem tatt? Key words "in Philadelphia". Missed them in my post, eh? Try reading slower.

@sporty... Like many other times that you see Philadelphia used... They are talking about the region... not just the city itself. Most TV commercials on local TV tell you to see your "Local Del Val xxx (fill in the brand) Dealer. Or perhaps you "tri state" xxx Dealer. etc...

    Hope this helps!

My brother called me a few years ago from a rental car counter. He, along with four co-workers, was trying to figure out which car would hold them all, along with their luggage. Among the candidates offered, only one was a full-size car: a Chevrolet Impala.
