TRENTON, N.J. - New Jersey drivers who don't clear snow and ice from their cars could soon get tickets.
Gov. Jon Corzine signed a law Tuesday putting into place fines of $25 to $75 for drivers with "dangerous accumulations" of snow or ice on their cars or trucks.
Enforcement isn't to begin for a year , giving truckers time to install snow-clearing equipment.
The law is believed to be the first of its kind in the nation.
New Jersey and several other states have laws that impose stiff fines on drivers if snow flies from their vehicles and causes damage or an injury.
