Dave Attell is known for his caustic wit and rapid-fire delivery that helped earn him the title as one of the Funniest People in America by Entertainment Weekly Magazine. In 2001, Attell used his love of laughter to create and host the hit series 'Insomniac with Dave Attell' for Comedy Central. After four seasons Attell taped several hour-long 'Insomniac' specials and a two-hour special for Comedy Central featuring Sean Rouse, Greg Geraldo and Dane Cook who are some of the biggest comics in the country. Attell has also made numerous appearances on the late night TV show circuit and had roles in 'Arrested Development' and 'Ed.'

This exhibition explores how news of the daguerreotype spread throughout Philadelphia both to the scientifically inclined men who experimented with the new process and to the public who sat for their portraits, and it examines the city's role as a leading center for daguerreotyping. It highlights the careers of selected Philadelphia daguerreotypists including Robert Cornelius, Marcus Root, and the Langenheim brothers. Many examples of daguerreotypes from the Library Company's collection and other institutional collections are featured, along with early books about daguerreotyping, studio advertisements, equipment, and related ephemera.

When it was all ready one afternoon last week - the dry-brined turkey a rosy chestnut brown, the Sister Frances' Potatoes (named for one of the last of the famously celibate Shakers), the brothy, purposefully not creamy blue-pumpkin soup (with a sour jolt of preserved lemon), Melissa Hamilton beamed at what she had wrought.
