At big companies - those with at least 500 employees - workers who love their jobs do so for lots of reasons, including the security, the camaraderie, and the support. Here is how some workers at top large workplaces in the region anonymously finished the phrase, "I love my job because . . ."

SPIN (formerly Special People in Northeast Inc.)

I've been raising my special-needs brother since I was 19 years old and I love him so much, and he inspired me to be patient. The work we do is extremely important to society, and I work for an agency that believes in a life of possibilities for all people. I am proud to say that I work here.

When you look back on your life, career, year, month, and day, you can say you made a difference in someone's life by working here.

I have been given many opportunities to enhance my professional career.

Health Partners

HP is the least dysfunctional organization I've worked for.

I am allowed to exercise creativity in doing my job. My ideas are not always put to use, but I am not afraid of continuing to think of new and better ways to accomplish our goals.

There is never a dull moment.

My values and the values of my company are well aligned, more so than any other employer I have ever had.

I learn something new every day.

Prudential Fox & Roach Realtors

My hours are flexible, and I can earn as much money as possible.

Carol is an amazing boss, and I am surrounded by good, genuine people.

I am supported by my manager, John Wachter, and regional manager David Rickel. They are always encouraging and there when I need them.

Toll Bros. Inc.

I feel valued, and I take pride in working for a company with the reputation of Toll Bros.

I am self-motivated, and I am not micromanaged.

I am given the appropriate support for my duties when necessary.

I feel like I contribute to the success of the company.

I have never come to work thinking, "I don't want to go to work today."

Shire P.L.C.

First and foremost, I have the opportunity to work in a team and a company that is trying to help patients. That is very important to me. Second, I have met some extremely motivated and hardworking peers. Getting up every day to come to work is a joy!

I am encouraged to be autonomous, drive new ideas, and contribute to the team.

My manager is not micromanaging - he allows me to perform at my best, gives me opportunities to try new things, and always makes himself available if I need help.

PwC

I am appreciated, paid nicely, enjoy my team and coworkers, am treated with respect and kept informed.

I am challenged, never bored. I work in a busy and exciting environment.

I feel in control of my career.

PwC gives me the flexibility I want in a workplace. We have smart people, great clients, and a very engaged and inspired workforce.

Accenture

I am challenged to learn new skills and provide solutions to clients who look to Accenture for leadership.

I am given the room to make decisions and grow my career with the flexibility I need to be a working mother.

I enjoy my work of finding solutions to complex problems in IT. The team I work with is outgoing and relaxed.

Reed Technology &

Information Services

Everyone gets along and is willing to help others.

I can look forward to growing with the company and have stability for myself and my family for years to come.

I do feel appreciated, and I actually enjoy coming to work.

I don't have to take it home with me.

It's a great learning experience, I love the atmosphere, and some of my coworkers are now my best friends.

It is a fun place to work.

Vanguard Group

My manager is genuinely interested in me as a person - all of me - and we'll often talk about what we're going through personally, outside of work. This clearly demonstrates to me that he values me as more than just an employee, and he appreciates what I contribute at work.

Vanguard gives me the tools to do my job effectively, which puts the client first.

I love delivering technology solutions to the business. I work independently and make decisions on behalf of the business. I am passionate about my work.

It's interesting.
