Derailment disrupts PATCO service

The derailment of a piece of construction equipment Thursday disrupted service on the PATCO High Speed Line disrupted service for about eight hours, including the entire morning rush period.

Normal service resumed at 2 p.m., PATCO said.

No injuries were reported in the derailment about 6 a.m. west of Lindenwold station, the New Jersey terminus of the commuter rail line.

After the derailment, trains ran only every 15 or 20 minutes until crews could remove the derailed equipment.

During the morning rush,  PATCO terminated some eastbound trains in Haddonfield and turned them around to ease crowding on westbound trains.
