Philly police to enforce South Broad St. median parking ban during DNC

The parking ban on the South Broad Street median will be enforced during the Democratic National Convention, according to the city.

The parking ban on the South Broad Street median will be enforced during the Democratic National Convention, according to the city.

Parking on the median, technically banned but largely permitted, will be prohibited starting the morning of July 24 through the evening of July 29. Curbside parking will still be permitted.

The ban is meant to protect protesters expected to march down Broad as well as police patrolling the area, the city said. Unlike the papal visit, which triggered widespread parking restrictions, this is the only ongoing parking restriction during the convention.

City officials said additional temporary parking bans could come up during the week so drivers should look for signs and check the Philadelphia Parking Authority's website.
