American Airlines said its computers were back online after problems Thursday that grounded flights headed to Dallas, Chicago, and Miami.

American Airlines said its computers were back online after problems Thursday that grounded flights headed to Dallas, Chicago, and Miami.

Flightaware.com listed 382 delays for American flights.

"Issues started at noon Eastern Time and were resolved by 1:30 p.m. Eastern," American spokesman Casey Norton said. "We extended the groundstop to 2:15 p.m. Eastern."

American flights destined for Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago O'Hare, and Miami International airports were held on the ground at their departure cities until the problems were resolved.

Delays affected several flights at Philadelphia International Airport, which is a hub for American and merger partner US Airways. A 1:39 p.m. flight to Dallas Fort-Worth from Philadelphia was held at the gate, as was a 2:05 p.m. flight bound for Miami from Philadelhpia, said airport spokeswoman Mary Flannery.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the ground stop was due to "computer issues."

"We're working to resolve technical issues impacting several airports as quickly as possible," Norton said in an email. "We will provide updates and more information as they become available. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience."
