SEPTA: Trenton rail line service resumes on Monday

SEPTA's Trenton regional rail service, which has been suspended since the fatal Amtrak train derailment on May 12, could be restored by Monday, according to a transit agency spokesman.

SEPTA's Trenton regional rail service, which has been suspended since the fatal Amtrak train derailment on May 12, will resume on Monday, officials announced Sunday.

SEPTA's Trenton line, which operates on Amtrak rails, will resume Monday morning.

"Due to an anticipated reduction in the number of operating tracks, inbound trains (to Center City) will stop at all but North Philadelphia Station. Outbound (to Trenton) trains will stop at all stations except North Philadelphia, Bridesburg and Tacony," according to a news release. "Service to and from these stations is tentatively expected to resume sometime later on Monday."

Riders on both the Trenton Line and the Chestnut Hill East Regional Line should anticipate delays, according to the release.

Service on the West Trenton line will return to its normal schedule.

Amtrak repaired the rails at Frankford Junction in Port Richmond that were severely damaged when Amtrak Train 188 derailed, according to SEPTA.
