Officials say DRPA won't hire veteran Harrisburg consultant

The Delaware River Port Authority has apparently shelved plans to hire a veteran Harrisburg public-affairs consultant. DRPA officials said in July they were hiring David La Torre, president of La Torre Communications, for $7,500 a month to help improve the agency's image while the agency looked to fill its vacant post of communications chief.

DRPA chief executive John Hanson said Wednesday "we are still trying to resolve contractual issues" with the consultant. Other officials said the need for an interim PR consultant had passed and La Torre would not be hired.
