Construction work will expand on I-95 on Monday as Pennsylvania Department of Transportation crews begin a $212-million project to rebuild a 1.5-mile section of northbound I-95 between Girard and Allegheny Avenues.

Construction work will expand on I-95 on Monday as Pennsylvania Department of Transportation crews begin a $212-million project to rebuild a 1.5-mile section of northbound I-95 between Girard and Allegheny Avenues.

The current half-mile-long construction zone between I-676 and Columbia Avenue will be extended north by approximately 1.5 miles to just south of the Allegheny exit.

The project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2018. Other I-95 projects in Philadelphia will be underway at least through 2024, as PennDot rebuilds and widens the highway. - Paul Nussbaum
