US Airways to fly between PHL and Edinburgh
US Airways Group Inc. announced Monday new nonstop daily flights between Philadelphia and Scotland's capital city of Edinburgh, beginning in May.

US Airways Group Inc. announced Monday new nonstop daily flights between Philadelphia and Scotland's capital city of Edinburgh, beginning in May.
When the service begins May 23, Philadelphia's dominant airline, which transports more than 70 percent of air travelers who use the airport, will fly to 19 trans-Atlantic destinations from Philadelphia International Airport.
The Edinburgh flights will be seasonal, between May 23 and Oct. 1, 2014. The airline will operate 176-seat Boeing 757 aircraft.
Edinburgh-bound flights will depart Philadelphia airport at 8:50 p.m. and arrive in Edinburgh at 8:40 a.m. the following day. The Philadelphia-bound flights will depart Edinburgh at 10:50 a.m., arriving in Philadelphia the same day, at 1:35 p.m.
"US Airways' new nonstop service will offer travelers from both sides of the Atlantic a direct connection between the unique, historic cities of Edinburgh and Philadelphia," said Andrew Nocella, US Airways senior vice president.
The announcement "is more great news for Scotland's aviation sector," said Keith Brown, Scotland's transport minister. "Not only does it bolster Scotland's economy by supporting tourism, trade and investment, but it also helps to strengthen our enduring relationship with the United States."
