Philly's Top Universities / Graduate Schools
Posted on Mon, Mar 04, 2013
This list of Philly's Top Universities and Graduate Schools should not be considered comprehensive. It is merely meant to highlight some of the best ranked schools in and around the city, according to U.S. News and World Report's 2013 survey of 1,600 schools. For instance, Delaware Valley College and West Chester University ranked 20th and 70th among regional undergraduate colleges, but were considered too far away to make this list. A new graduate school survey will be published by the magazine March 12.

Wait...how on earth did you conceptualize this? Why the random presence of Swarthmore amongst nine universities, and if you're going to have them, why not Haverford? Temple is counted by US News as a "national university" and thus should be higher than Villanova et al, but is not to be found. And finally, why on earth is Wharton counted separately from Penn? Are you ranking individual programs, or universities? Universities, or small colleges? Jeesh.

philly dot com is going the way of the internet ad-driven blogs to get revenue it seems. mediocre content with a flashy title => profit. all the high-value content (arguable) is gone from the free public-facing website.

The premises for this ranking are all over the place. Don't compare apples to oranges.

Funny that Temple is ranked #125 as a national university, with many it's graduate programs ranked much higher, but yet the school was conveniently omitted from this list while lower ranked regional schools like Chestnut Hill made the cut.

This is a blatant Drexel ad very thinly disguised as a "news story". Position yourself as the number 3 school in the city - sure why not, you paid for it. No one would believe them if they said they were better than Penn anyway.......
