This week we count down to the top ten biggest sports busts/worst contracts. Which athlete do you think is Philly's biggest bust?

interesting list as there are some very poor signings and trades on this list. sadly, many of them bring back awful memories because of their unfulfilled potential. the one that stands out to me most is mike mamula. it bothers me most because the eagles were easily swindled by his combine workout and they then passed on selections such as warren sapp to pick mamula. theeducator
The entire Philly Sport's Scene (teams)....... STEPHEN1988
In the 1971 NHL Draft, if the Flyers had said Larry Robinson instead of Larry Wright (or Pierre Plante for that matter)..... peteinmich
you are far too nice on the eagles...how about 1990's drafts -- jon harris a DE stiff who was rated as 3rd or 3th rd pick.....and Jermane Mayberry in 1996 when Ray Lewis was still on the board and taken by the ravens as the next pick ---- w the eagles in need of a MLB at the time....
Also the pick in 2010 - trading up and taking Bradon Graham when S Earl Thomas and DE Jason Piere paul were still on the board. Cement51
The mike mamula pick is even worse as the eagles traded up for the pick and passed on warren sapp...... Cement51
Just to be clear: Mailroom Howie had nothing to do with those bad choices. Even if they happened on his watch, they were Reid or Banner decisions. hunglikeaton
You have a pic of Ivan DeJesus Jr. May wanna do a little research and post a pic of the Ivan DeJesus that actually played for the Phillies genius finkel
Freddy Garcia? FishtownFitz
I think its a good list, however, Freddy Garcia should certainly be on there (he made 11 starts for us and we gave up Gio Gonzalez and Gavin Floyd for him). When its all said and done I think the Hunter Pence deal will end up on here, it wasn't a disaster, he did produce but he was supposed to be that missing piece! The expectations that were never met, how shortlived it was, and if the guys we gave up amount to anything may definitely put it up there as a bust. He still has time, but if Ryan Howard doesn't turn things around his extension could be up close to #1.
Pronger signing was a bust, I love the guy and its not his fault, but he was supposed to be "The Guy" the one to bring us the cup. And due to injuries he just really hasn't lived up to the billing.

Clement, Jermaine Mayberry was not a draft bust. He had a very nice career here in Philly. Had you been able to predict that Ray Lewis would have the HOF career he's had, he would obviously have been a better choice. They didn't draft Tom Brady either even with 6 shots at him. My point is: "Sometimes, you just don't know." maurysline- Plus Mayberry started that "Eyeglasses on Wheels" thing to help inner city kids get the medical attention they need. That has to account for SOMETHING!!!!!
- Great call, Coetta. What Jermaine did should put him in the top 10 for Philly's best, not anywhere near this dreck, not even in the same county....

Obviously there are more than 10 candidates for this list. Bruce in NM
How can this list no include the names Freddy Garcia and Adam Eaton. Also, I think you need a separate Eagles list, its just not fair. Jarrett, Watkins, Allen, McDougle, Teo-Nesheim to name a few. RickinMalvern
This list could be made up of just Sixers over the last 20 years. Matt Geiger, Sharone Wright, Glenn Robinson, Elton Brand, Tim Thomas, and now Andrew Bynum. What a joke.
Other sports should include Ryan Howard, Bryz, Jevon Kearse, Adam Eaton, and Danny Watkins cspn2000
