Amazon's Alexa jabs Patriots when asked who will win the Super Bowl

Amazon recently picked Philadelphia as one of the finalists for its second North American headquarters. But ahead of the Super Bowl, it looks like the City of Brotherly Love has already won in the company's eyes.

Amazon's virtual assistant, Alexa, is rooting for the Eagles in Super Bowl LII, when the team faces off against the New England Patriots on Feb. 4 in Minneapolis.

When asked which team it thinks will win, Alexa is not just cheering on the underdog, but is taking a jab at the Patriots.

"The team favored to win is the — [coughs] — is the [coughs] excuse me, is the Patriots. [Clears throat.] That was tough to get out. But I'm flying with the Eagles on this one because of their relentless defense and the momentum they've been riding off their underdog status. E-A-G-L-E-S. Eagles."

The jab seems to be a recent addition to Alexa's message. Last week, her response was limited to the latter part of the answer.

The answer apparently holds true no matter where you are. PennLive reported that Alexa gave the same response not just in Philly but in Los Angeles, Washington, and Virginia. The virtual assistant is even bold enough to utter those words in Massachusetts, according to NBC10.

It's not just the Super Bowl prediction that Alexa's calculating — the virtual assistant looks to be a genuine fan. When asked which team it's rooting for, Alexa responds with the Eagles, using this as its rationale, according to PennLive:

"I'm rooting for the Eagles. They've never won a Super Bowl and I like a good underdog story. Fly Eagles Fly."

However, it might be time for Eagles fans to disable Apple's virtual assistant, Siri, who says "apparently, the odds favor the Patriots over the Eagles by 5 points" when asked who will win.

"Alexa often roots for the underdog," Amazon said in a statement last week. "She had a friendly rivalry with the Patriots last year, and that sentiment continues this year." Apple did not respond to a request for comment.
