No time for a long post today, but since I mentioned Consumerist's "Worst Company in America" championship round in a blog post last week, I thought I'd bring you up to date: Comcast outlasted Ticketmaster, 5,469 to 3,787.
Significance? Probably not much. But you can be the judge.
Meanwhile, I should also mention my colleague Bob Fernandez's great piece on how the NBC show 30 Rock may be testing the limits of Comcast's sense of humor.
Consumerist is, too, as its pre-championship posting demonstrated:
Hide your children and gird your loins, because just like The Highlander, there can be only one. From the depths of the stinking swamps of mergepocalypse, come our two ignoble contenders. First, the dread pirate Comcast, known throughout the land for gobbling up all companies that are foolish enough to sail through its treacherous waters. Second, Ticketmaster, Lord of Tickets, Duke of fees, Master of... tickets. After forming an unholy alliance with LiveNation, Lord Ticketmaster has united the forces of darkness in a quest to force all people of this good land to pay $2.50 for the use of their own printers.
Kabletown might have taken them both.
The problem is, you can avoid Comcast (by getting satellite dish, Verizon, etc.) a lot easier than avoiding Ticketmaster...if you want certain concerts, events, you pretty much have to go to Ticketmaster and pay their ridiculous fees. J H
or if you do choose to aviod comtrash and go with satellite like i have done for the past 8 years you miss all of the Phillies and Flyers games on CSN. So unless you are stubborn like me they are hard to avoid. robsophila
or if you live in an apartment building and can't have a satellite dish and live in an area where Fios hasn't been wired for yet, you can't escape Comcast. brob1900

They're the worst company to work for too. Spent the longest 8 months of my life working at Comcast Business Services recently. When I left I felt like Tim Robbins did after he crawled through 500 yards of sewer to escape Shawshank. The most toxic, back-stabbing, fear-based, reactionary, dysfunctional company I've ever come across in a far reaching 20 year career that included Verizon. My boss actually shared annual ratings of everyone working for him with ALL of his direct reports! Everyone knew how everyone else was rated. Nice move! robusto839
I have to admit, everytime I have had a problem with Comcast, I have been able to speak to someone on the phone and when they said they were going to come out, they did within the window of time they said they would. I can't say the same about Sears service who gave me a window of 9am-5pm twice and both times canceled at 4:30 pm. short changed
No need to miss anymore games, Verizon carries CNP now - it's channel 99 in South Jersey. dstew26
Agree with "short changed" -- Sears is absolutely the worst! I had 3 cancelled appts, one at 5:45 that evening (after the day had elapsed!) charlie1978
... and my current bill shows another two dollar increase. Catch22
you think comcast is bad....try working at CIGNA......everything bad you hear about corporate America all roled up into one nightmare of a place to work..... Aegis10

I'm surprised it was that close. There is no worse company in America than Comcast. ej610
I have Verizon and would never ever go back to comcast. Not a single outage in 2 years, not a single on. I have internet and cell too. Everything works great, you can speak on phone or chat on-line with the very helpful customer service reps. I dont really care if it cost more, the service is OUTSTANDING. Comcast was just flat out arrogant for years Mottz
