Scott Cleland, telecom analyst turned corporate consultant, operator of Precusor Group, and chairman of Netcompetition.org, which unites Comcast, Verizon and other big Internet-connection giants in the struggle against FCC boss Jules Genachowski's "net neutrality" proposals (which would benefit big Internet users like Google, at Internet service providers' expense), has stepped up his long campaign against Google with a new website, www.googlemonitor.com, aggregating all things anti-Google.

Cleland says on site: "We created this site to spotlight Google's lack of transparency and accountability. Google is the most powerful nongovernment entity in the world. It dominates the Web's business model for information and it keeps watch on most everything that happens on the Internet. Given all this unchecked power, we will keep watch on the Web's top watcher and we will insist that Google is at least as transparent and accountable as Google expects everyone else to be."

NEW: I asked Cleland if he's doing all this for his client, Big Broadband. No, says Cleland, he's been anti-Google from way back:

"The site was my idea and initiative and my company Precursor LLC owns and operates it. The site pulls together much of the research and writing I have done over the last few years on Google as I am known as one of the leading experts in the industry on competitive issues relating to Google"

EARLIER: Cleland also brags, in his bio here, that Vanguard Group founder John Bogle called Cleland's critique of index investing "nuts".

I literally laughed out loud at that headline. Verizon and Comcast are worried about another company's "unchecked power"? Oh, that is rich.

Steve Jobs hates Google, according to anon sources from a tech town hall meet up. So, a lot of people don't like google, as if it were the Bilderberg group of Hi Tech. Could it be jealousy, billionaires upset with others rapid success? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/01/steve-jobs-calls-google-m_n_444133.html
