On The Market: Historically certified Society Hill beauty for $1.95 Million

In 2011, Leigh Barrow moved to Philadelphia to work at Anthropologie's headquarters and she was looking for a property she could convert to her own personal headquarters.

She found the perfect townhome in Society Hill.

"It was move-in ready," she said. "A really beautiful mix of old and new."

The 4,100-plus square-foot home includes traditional details like crown molding, marble fireplaces and original pine flooring. It also includes modern details like an en-suite master suite with a Neptune Jacuzzi tub.

"You get to live in a really old, historic house with all the modern updates you could want," Barrow said. "It has a loft-like feel inside."

Built before the Civil War, the property has been historically certified. Original stained glass windows are found throughout the property, most prominently in a circular skylight at the top of a staircase on the fourth floor.

"There's beautiful stained glass inside," Barrow said.

The owner before Barrow grew up in the home and is responsible for some of the more recent renovations. Those include a gourmet kitchen with six-burner Viking stove as well as zoned air conditioning and high-efficiency heaters and laundry.

The home now counts four bedrooms and three full baths plus a powder room. Two bedrooms on the fourth floor are arranged with an au pair suite in mind. A roof deck rounds out the third floor, overlooking the patio.

Barrow says she has enjoyed the Society Hill lifestyle. "The neighborhood is wonderful," she said. "Everything you need is within walking distance. I don't even have a car."

Having moved to the city for work, Barrow has since moved home to Brooklyn, where her family and current job are.

The home is currently listed by Dominic Fuscia for $1.95 million.
