There is one room in Angelo Cataldi's Medford home that stirs his emotion most, and it is not the wallpapered kitchen that has become the topic of debate on his WIP morning show.

"It's a room downstairs I turned back 60 years," he said.

The lower-level room is home to his collection of 1950s paraphernalia, including a 1952 television, the Big Boy and Alka Seltzer mascots, and a Coca-Cola 1950 vending machine that is fully operational.

"When my grandkids come over, I go down there, and really I sense they're just tolerating it," Angelo said. "I'm the only one that likes it."

Now that he and wife Gail have decided it's time to sell the home and downsize, the two have begun the conversation about moving the collection.

"There's already a debate going on about how much of it will survive," Angelo said.

The room is just one facet of an enormous and fully finished lower level. Combined with the main floor above, the New Jersey home totals more than 8,000 square feet of living space.

"Downstairs is a home unto itself," Gail said.

The space also includes a billiards room as well as an in-law suite with kitchen.

"I'm addicted to television," Angelo said.

Then there is, of course, the kitchen and its controversial wallpaper. Flowered wallpaper with a yellow background covers the spacious, eat-in kitchen, which features a large pantry, a pair of dishwashers and skylights.

"When we first saw this house, I was like 'Oh my God, the wallpaper!'" Gail said.

Then they moved in and she changed her mind.

"We understand people might not like it," she said.

For her part, Gail's favorite spot in the home might be the master suite.

"Our bedroom is like the Inn of the Dove," she said.

The open-plan bedroom is split by a double-sided fireplace: on one side, the bedroom, and the other side, a jetted soaking tub and shower.

"It's beautiful," Gail said.

She also enjoys the connection with nature the wooded, five-acre lot provides.

"I don't even have a favorite season here," she said. Though the pool and pool house might give summer an occasional leg up.

After more than a decade at the same address, the couple has decided it's time to move full-time to their smaller Sea Isle home.

"It's a lot for two people," Angelo said. "Somebody else will be enjoying it."

The decision has been a difficult one.

"I can never replace the neighbors," Gail said.

"We're both heartbroken," Angelo said. "It's the house I always dreamed I would live in, and for 11 years, I got to do it."

The home is currently listed by Edward McNally of Remax Cherry Hill for $875,000.
