Buying a home while it's still under construction might make some people nervous. But when Andrea Ogden and her husband saw a mid-construction home in Queen Village, all they noticed was possibilities.

"Buying it before it was finished allowed us to customize with neutral, on-trend details," Ogden said.

In addition to choosing subway tiling, birch floors, and quartz counters, the couple was also able to do things like extend the kitchen two additional feet to add cabinetry.

"New construction was very attractive to us," she said.

So was the neighborhood.

"We love Queen Village and Bella Vista and were thrilled to find a place in this area," Ogden said. "The neighborhood has all you need but is very residential — a perfect balance."

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home includes entertaining spaces that Ogden and her husband have come to love nearly as much as the neighborhood itself.

Ogden said the lower level theater room is her husband's favorite space in the 2,100-square-foot home, and hers is the new kitchen. They both agree on the home's outdoor spaces, including a roofdeck with panoramic views.

"We both love the roof," Ogden said. "The unobstructed views of the skyline and Ben Franklin Bridge are so beautiful."

Buying early also meant the couple was able to customize the rooftop space.

"The first priority was the custom furniture that we had built for the roof," Ogden said. "It allows multiple people to enjoy the gorgeous view of the cityscape."

The built-in bench-style seating will be ready for new owners soon.

Ogden said she and her husband are relocating to California for work, but she's confident new buyers will enjoy the same neighborhood perks they did, including one surprise.

"Parking is surprisingly easy, who knew?" she said. "We may park our cars Friday and not look at them again until Monday because we can walk to the farmers market, South Street shops, and date night."

The home is currently listed by Keller Williams' Guillaume Lantoine for $535,000.
