When Brooke and Eric Workman were on the market for a new home in 2012, they were taken by the size and openness of a 3,600-square-foot property in Indian Creek in Lower Merion.
“We loved the light and open feel it has,” Brooke said. “And the enormous basement, which was larger than our New York City apartment, was a huge selling point.”
She said the property did require some renovations once they moved in though.
“We put in new carpets throughout the house, refinished the hardwood floors, changed the interior doors and redid the master bathroom and closet area,” Workman said.
The couple also upgraded all the closets in the four-bedroom home and purchased all new appliances for the eat-in kitchen.
Despite the enormous lower level—so large that it currently accommodates a family room and a private gym—Workman said her favorite parts of the home are on the ground level.
“The eat-in kitchen area because it is so light and roomy and looks into the family room, and the living room because it is a beautiful space to relax,” she said.
The upstairs master suite includes one of the three full baths in the home, featuring a frameless, two-person shower.
Workman said the experience of living in the quiet Indian Creek community has been a rewarding one for their growing family.
“We love the neighborhood because there are a lot of young families,” she said. “We have sidewalks and a cul de sac so we enjoy playing outside and it is safe for the kids to run around and ride bikes.”
The couple has also enjoyed the large rear deck and the grounds on the property, which have been professionally landscaped.
Workman said they listed the home for sale because their family has continued to grow since 2012.
“We had another baby and needed another bedroom,” she said. “We love our house, so it is bittersweet, but we found another great house with an additional bedroom upstairs.”
The home is currently listed by Lauren and Paul Lipowicz at Keller Williams Luxury Homes for $835,000.
