When Larry Schempp bought his Bella Vista condo in 2006, the space was unfinished.
“It was raw space in a beautiful building,” he said.
Buying at that time allowed him to have his unit built to his individual tastes.
“The 18-foot-high ceilings and loft space appealed to me,” he said. “It was all new construction and I opted for many of the upgrades.”
The upgrades in the two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom home include Jenn-Air appliances and custom Schiffini cabinetry in the kitchen, as well as custom tile and oversized soaking tubs in the baths. He also installed custom lighting throughout.
The Lofts at Bella Vista where Schempp lives were once the Curtis Publishing plant, which gives the unit features like large windows and exposed brick.
Schempp said the layout and lighting in the unit make the space unique.
“The generous open space and the breathtaking skyline views are my favorite features,” he said.
The building also features luxury amenities like concierge, a fitness center and a private lounge for residents. Garage parking is also included.
Schempp said the location, near South 11th Street and Washington Avenue, puts him in the middle of an exciting neighborhood scene.
“It is a terrific neighborhood,” he said. “There is easy access to Center City. It's close to the Italian Market and many great restaurants on all ends of the spectrum.”
As much as Schempp has enjoyed his time in the neighborhood, he said he’s listing the unit in order to move closer to work. He doesn’t expect selling the home will be a tough.
“In addition to the space, I think that the value will appeal to buyers in the city,” he said.
The home is currently listed by Andy Oei at Berkshire Hathaway Fox & Roach for $435,000.
