Union League under contract to buy Jersey Shore golf club

The Union League is under contract to purchase the 236-acre Sand Barrens Golf Club in Swainton, N.J., near Avalon, the organization’s president Jim Dunigan said in an email to members on Thursday.

The acquisition is on track to close in October, with the 27-hole club reopening as a Union League property in the spring of 2018, according to the email.

The organization already owns a golf club in Northeast Philadelphia, the former Torresdale Frankford Country Club.

It also recently acquired the Old Guard House Inn restaurant in Gladwyne and owns a private BYOB called the Bungalow in Stone Harbor, N.J.
